Mark your diaries for next Saturday, as it’s the return of the Free for Arts Festival. This community event is a showcase of visual art, dance, theatre and film. Living up to its name, it is completely free, and will feature original work by artists from the UK and abroad. The venue is PLANT NOMA, a brand new design studio for the creative community just off Angel Meadow in the Green Quarter. Featured artists include Lithuanian duo B&B (pictured), who will tell the true story of their quest to try and find the American Dream. Local performer Leila Herandi will present a piece of physical and verbal storytelling about a week in the life of the kind of loveable eccentric you walk past on the street. Also featured will be an eclectic programme of short films, and a spoken word performance by Joe Cook. A perennial event in the arts calendar, the festival is hosted by different people each year – and this time it’s the turn of Art Vanguard, a creative platform for collaborative creative projects. The group has delivered projects for the likes of Chorlton Arts Festival and the RNCM.
