Manchester’s weekly food fair Grub has been treating us to some spectacular street food flavours throughout February. With the line up released for their March dates, it looks to be another month of full-on flavour from the best traders in the North. Next weekend will see a varied selection of stalls serving up their scran to the eager Fairfield Social Club crowd. The ever popular Ottomen will have their big mezze plates at the ready, loaded with falafel, rice, hummus, grilled aubergine and many more delicious Mediterranean inspired morsels. Howlin Tacos will be representing on both Friday and Saturday, their moreish tostadas filled with slow cooked beef brisket or refried black beans with plenty of spice and lime. Levenshulme Market regulars Pastrami Now bring slow cooked salt beef sarnies, and Sheffield’s Gravy Train will have the Poutine covered (a Canadian delicacy of gravy soaked chips and cheese curds). On Saturday, grab some home-cooked authentic Indian food from Vaso Kitchen, or check out pun-loving criminals Hip Hop Chip Shop, who will be frying up their famous chunky skin-on chips and halloumi fingers (watch out for the opening of their Ancoats restaurant which is on its way in the next few months). Sweet things come from Yes! Doughnuts and Drizzle City Bakes with their Rocky Road and colourful cakes. Beers on tap represent the best local breweries and there are DJs to soundtrack your weekend – surely the only downside is that you can’t possibly try everything.
