It’s been a cold winter, but Grub Food Fair have been holding out through the blizzards, running their weekly food fair and pulling a crowd despite the chill in the air. The lively, railway arch space has consistently been busy despite inclement weather – testament to the quality of traders on offer. This Friday and Saturday’s lineup features Fritto and their deep fried panzerotti (a savoury turnover filled with tomato, mozzarella and basil) or arancini (fried risotto rice balls). Wallace and Sons bring us handmade steamed bao buns with exciting fillings such as beer battered cauliflower, peanut, tofu, sesame and hot sauce. Throw your preconceptions out of the window and try some of Wholesome Junkies menu of hearty and filling plant-based dishes, that you needn’t feel guilty about, including an ever-popular vegan cauliflower KFC burger. If you fancy something meatier, Oh My Glaze return with sticky chicken wings cooked in a variety of different glazes. Sunday, as ever, is completely vegan. Mac Daddies return to cook up their mac and cheese, while Howlin Tacos and Yakumama’s tempt with some flavourful South American dishes. Grub have got us covered for our sweet cravings with debut trader Dan’s Cookies and some hefty freshly cooked bakes. With a wealth of independent breweries in Manchester, Grub’s bar is well-stocked with local favourites from the likes of Wanderbeyond and Runaway, but also check out their guest ales from a little further afield.
