In Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Record Store Day is as much about unique finds and special releases as it is about live music, DJs and parties and Cottonopolis bar and restaurant is getting in on the action with a whole day of record store fun. This Saturday (21 Apr, aka Record Store Day), the NQ venue is hosting a face off between DJs and producers releasing music on two heavyweight labels: Athens Of The North and Mr Bongo Records. Both labels are famed for world-class sounds, so expect something very special in this b2b clash. It’s an Edinburgh (AOTN) vs Brighton (Mr Bongo) clash with DJs Mikey Donn, Out of Quiet, Dave Ruf and Paul Thornton all taking to the decks to showcase their talents and label styles. Plus: from 2-5pm there’s a record fair featuring the two labels as well as Dig Deep Records and Planet Rock’s extensive catalogues. A must for all vinyl lovers this Record Store Day.
