Touchstones Rochdale are drawing upon the traditional Lancashire Wakes holiday, and hosting a day of activities celebrating the folk culture, craft techniques and radical politics of the Red Rose county. This one off day of free events celebrates the ongoing exhibitions at the gallery, including Ambigious Implements which explores and questions the tools we use for grooming, cooking, cleaning and so on, as well as Lore – which explores historic traditions and holiday celebrations across the British Isles. The event includes folk and Morris dance performances, live music, storytelling, a heritage walking trail, Lancashire dialect poetry and workshops by artists featured in the Ambiguous Implements exhibition, Rachael Colley and Daniel Fogarty, alongside a workshop devised in response to the same exhibition by Claire Curtin and Alex Gaites.
Sat 26 May, Touchstones Rochdale, The Esplanade, Rochdale OL16 1AQ. Tel: 01706 924492. 12pm-4pm, FREE. www.ambiguous-show.com
