A new garden celebrating a century of women’s suffrage opens at Manchester’s Pankhurst Centre on Wednesday (12 Sep). The specially-designed ‘Edwardian Knot’ garden is located at the former home of women’s rights campaigner, Emmeline Pankhurst. An ironwork figure depicting a suffragette provides a centrepiece in the garden, with quotes connected to the suffrage movement are dotted throughout. The area also provides a tranquil, therapeutic space for service users of Manchester Women’s Aid, which is located at the venue. The Pankhurst Centre is open to the public every Thursday and two Sundays a month – click on the link below for more details.
