Fans of polemical filmmaker Adam Curtis will be delighted to see him making a return to Manchester International Festival this year, for a new co-production with Bristol trip-hop crew Massive Attack. There are still virtually no details are available about the show just yet  – but if Curtis’ last production for MIF (2009’s It Felt Like A Kiss) is anything to go by, this will be a hot ticket. Curtis has described the performance as ‘a musical entertainment about the power of illusion and the illusion of power’, promising collaborators include Felix Barrett, the artistic director of the PunchDrunk immersive theatre company who Curtis worked with on the haunting 2009 production, plus Es Devlin and UnitedVisualArtists.

Performances: July 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 8.30pm, £36 (£31 concessions) inc booking fee but not transaction charge, www.mif.co.uk
