Exhibition & talks: Youth Studio’s No Age: Designing for Culture not Demographic’ at The Basement

Manchester-based design studio Youth presents an open exhibition called No Age which explores the value of collaboration and designing for culture, not demographic. The public exhibition takes place over three days (Tue 11 – Thu 13 Dec) at The Basement, 184 Deansgate. It features studio collaborations from around Manchester and internationally as well as open discussions from some of Manchester’s most progressive creatives. Launched in 2016 by Liam McGroarty and Oliver Collinge, Youth aims to challenge the creative industry, seeking to break down industry and sector barriers, to stand boldly at the intersection of design, culture and commerce. In just under three years, the duo have built a global portfolio with a combined value of £500million, including the interior design of 570 apartments at Kampus, part of Manchester’s ‘vibrant new cultural district’. On Wednesday 12 December there will be a discussion hosted by Youth between Manchester’s NotJust, MenikMati and Alexander Bather; whose studios aim to see beyond design as a service and instead, create concepts that shape and influence both lifestyles and cultures.
