Film screening: Loved & Lost Exhibition Opening at Manchester Cathedral
Manchester Cathedral hosts this free exhibition opening on Tuesday evening. Loved & Lost is a deeply moving documentary photography project from photographer Stephen Raw that explores the stories of people who’ve suffered great loss. The exhibition has toured all around the UK, being featured on BBC News and in the pages of The Guardian, and after this launch event it will be running through until Saturday 27 April.

Zine exhibition: Penny Thoughts Exhibition Launch at Night & Day (pictured)
Another exhibition launch this Tuesday evening, this time at legendary Northern Quarter music venue Night & Day. Micro zine Penny Thoughts was launched last summer, impressing with its beautiful risograph printing, bold design and bolder ethos: All their issues are distributed for free. This one-night-only exhibition gathers together some of the collective’s work from the past nine months.

Comedy: Barking Tales at Zombie Shack
Regular comedy-and-mental-health-advocacy night Barking Tales returns to the Zombie Shack this Wednesday for a very special instalment headlined by comedian Toby Hadoke. Hadoke is best known as the regular MC of Manchester comedy institution XS Malarkey. He’s supported on the night by Barking Tales’ host Harriet Dyer and guest comic Chris Purchase. This show is technically free to attend, but donations to local mental health charities are solicited on the night.

Art talk: Melanie Manchot at The Whitworth
As part of the gallery’s Thursday Lates series of events, The Whitworth invites visual artist Melanie Manchot along to talk about her work. Things will be kicked of with a presentation of Twelve, Manchot’s new multi-screen documentary film project telling twelve different stories. This will be followed by a conversation with curator Mark Prest and MMU’s Professor Amanda Ravetz.
