Fresh from an acclaimed and sold-out run at the National Theatre, Home, I’m Darling, heads to Salford after a limited West End pitstop. Laura Wade’s play has received rapturous reviews from the national press, with Katherine Parkinson being noted for her performance. The actor, know for her roles in The IT Crowd and Humans amongst others, plays Judy a modern day woman aiming to be the perfect 1950s housewife. Winner of the Best New Comedy Award at The Olivier Awards this year, the play raises questions of what it means to be a couple in the modern day, and how the dated view of a housewife ties in with that. A ‘sharp, funny, and sad’ production that analyses and questions the idea of being a wife and the way the past can be overly nostalgised by the present.
