Fancy taking a trip back to a simpler time when money was irrelevant? This month Sadler’s Yard host the first annual Stock Exchange, where a new ‘off the books’ market will see cashless barter system installed for a day’s trading. Attendees are encouraged to come with handheld, trade-able objects, spanning pieces of art, books, food, drink and raw materials, with the value of your item dictated by your haggling skills. DJs will be on hand to soundtrack the day, along with beer stalls and the good folk from Old Bank Residency and Easy Peel Studio. The event will also offer talks exploring the sharing economy and the ideas explored across the afternoon. So, pack your bags and approach all encounters with an “open-minded sense of possibility”, though don’t expect to come home with a Ferrari in exchange for a few magic beans. Events get underway at 12pm, with doors expecting to shut when all goods are swapped around 6pm.
Sat 25 May, Sadler’s Yard, NOMA, Manchester M60 0AB, 12pm – 6pm, www.standardpractice.studio
