On Saturday, you can catch this free, family-friendly, all-day festival at Platt Fields Park. The Festival of Manchester offers a packed programme of events including The Unlimited Space Agency’s Space Shed, an interactive theatre performance that uses interviews, education and fun to get kids pumped about the future of space science.
The Jerwood Fellowship is a biennial programme that supports new artists, and on Saturday afternoon you can meet the latest crop of fellows (pictured). You will hear all about the insights they gained over the course of this year’s Manchester International Festival, with each creative focusing in on a different piece from the festival. If you’re looking to attend, e-mail the organisers first to guarantee a spot.
Finish off your weekend the right way with this free Sunday morning yoga session at city-centre running gear shop lululemon. Trainer Tyler from training club Hero takes you through a session that builds strength and discipline, going through a range of yoga positions down on the shop’s airy floorspace. This event is currently marked as Sold Out, but it’s always worth checking back with the shop to see if there are any returns on the day.

The Mayfield hosts this Latin American Food Festival all weekend courtesy of the foodies at GRUB. Already confirmed for the fair are grilled Cuban sandwich specialists Press de Cuba and Nitro Ice Cream, who use liquid nitrogen to quickly produce super-smooth desserts. There’s also a tap takeover from Berkshire-based brewery Siren, and all food and drink options available on Sunday are 100% vegan.
