One off film screening: Peterloo Descendants traces links between the events of 1819 & present day relations

People of Manchester can explore how today’s world links to the past with the premier of new film Peterloo Descendants, which screens next Tuesday 26 November. Number 70 (formerly the Cornerhouse building on Oxford Road) is set to host the premier which connects past to the present, linking six Peterloo massacre descendants to their inspiring relatives. Among the feature participants is Keith Stafford, the great-great-great grandson of John Stafford, who created the ballads which documented this tragic event. He’s just one featured player in this film who is able to trace his family history back to that infamous day. The film is a finale for Manchester Histories’ year-long activities which have marked the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo massacre. Over 180 of these events creatively invited thousands of people to peer into the past and discover the tragedies that led to the 18 deaths in August 1819.  Tickets for the premiere of Peterloo Descendants are free and can be booked via Eventbrite.
