America indie folk singer-songwriter Noah Gundersen takes the stage at Gorilla. With a canon of work under his belt, including his music being featured in popular TV shows One Tree Hill and Nashville amongst others – Noah returns with his newest offering 2019’s album Lover. Support will come from Harrison Whitford.
Headlining Night People are indie-rockers Dirty Circus – one of Wigan’s most notorious and successful bands. After emerging in the late 00’s, they’re no strangers to the music scene and their resumé speaks for itself – including a support slot for local heroes Happy Mondays. The long-awaited album What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Worse was released last year – to a great reception. Expect classic Northern indie at its best.
Brigitte Naggar aka Common Holly plays Salford’s Eagle Inn at the weekend. Hailing from Montreal, Canada – Naggar brings us something sombre yet beautiful ‘for people who like sad songs’. Her sophmore album When I Say To You Black Lightning, released last year, is more experimental than her debut as she explores the precarity of life throughout 9 entangling catchy tracks. Manchester-based alt-indie act Lindsay Monroe joins as support. This event is free but booking is advised.
Scarborough-based four-piece Stray Scene headline noted Northern Quarter venue Night & Day in a special showcase this week. Known for their electric live performances, the lads bring a retro feel to indie rock n roll and will be playing tunes from their most recent EP Eye For An Eye. They are joined on the bill by Manchester-based acts – Belvoir Hill, Jack Hyphen and John Speke & The New Faces.
Rounding off the week, Purple Pilgrims take the stage at Yes (basement) in the Manchester date of their UK/European Tour. The experimental dream pop duo – sisters Clementine and Valentine Nixon – combine gorgeous vocals, gleaming synths and hazy guitars to create a distinctive folk yet futuristic sound.
