Irish singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill hits Yes on her UK Tour this week. Hailing from County Cavan, the folk artist combines witty lyrics and observations on life with a vocal style that is both soulful and distinctively striking.
Manchester’s very own China Moon play a gig over the bridge at The Eagle Inn, Salford. The trio mix indie-pop with Eastern melodies to create a melancholic sound that really stands out in the current scene. Their most recent release, Lonely Game, can be found on our February ’20 Wire List on Spotify.
Described as “Talking Heads lost in Salford”, Manchester 6-piece See Thru Hands headline Soup Kitchen this week. Taking disco-infused vibes and blending them with a bitta punk and a bitta funk – their debut record Hot City has already got them noticed. It’s an all-Manchester line-up as support comes from local industrial-alt artist Paige Kennedy – who’s most recent release Finga is both spiky and strong while also being incredibly catchy. Joining on the bill are Manc band Velvet Shakes bringing their sweet psychedelic synths and indie-disco sound.
The Space Monkeys headline Deaf Institute this Valentine’s Day. As the last ever band to be signed to Factory Records, they are pure Manchester music. Playing tracks from their classic debut album The Daddy Of Them All as well as from their latest release Modern Actions – the gig promises to be packed with the nostalgia of the Madchester sound.
Rounding off the week – Man & The Echo play Band on The Wall as part of their Men of The Moment Tour. The Warrington four-piece take a strange, eclectic and very British approach to indie art-pop. With tongue-in-cheek lyrics and catchy melodies – they’re unique, clever, and dare I say it – ‘quirky’.

To kick start the week – Taunton four-piece October Drift headline Manchester venue YES. The band, who formed in 2015, have matured and blossomed, toured and toiled all the way up to releasing their debut album Forever Whatever last month. Heavy yet melodic in sound, brooding and poetic in lyrics. Support comes from New Luna and Bards.
