Blue Dot festival has announced a killer and varied lineup for its 2020 edition. Always a highlight of the Manchester summer, the 3-day festival at the Jodrell Bank Observatory welcomes headline performances from alt-pop legend Björk, indie hitmakers Metronomy and electronic duo Groove Armada. In an exclusive appearance at a UK festival this summer, Björk will present a special orchestral performance backed by Manchester’s own Hallé Orchestra and unique projections on the observatory’s Lovell Telescope. Other notable musicians in the extensive roster come from electronica mainstay Squarepusher, Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien (soon to drop his first solo effort), and Russian punk collective Pussy Riot — another UK festival exclusive. Plus, as is ever the case with Blue Dot, it’s not just musicians on the programme; they’ll be science and tech events for the whole family, including a talk from astronaut Tim Peake and an Intergalactic Planetary Kids Rave, as well as appearances from Adam Buxton and Phill Jupitus. Tickets go on sale this Friday 14 February at 10am.
