Manchester Jazz Festival 2020 has revealed details of its 25th birthday celebrations, featuring another all-star line up due to perform in various venues across Manchester between Thursday 21 and Monday 25 May 2020. Leading this year’s event are the likes of musical collective Nubiyan Twist, British jazz funk band James Taylor Quartet, singer-songwriter Black Bassy and the North’s own Kirsty Almeida. However this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the far-reaching selection of shows on offer throughout this anniversary event. Once again, Manchester Jazz Festival has enlisted the support of some of the city’s finest venues, with a series of free shows scheduled for Band on the Wall’s bar area and a selection of performances at The Whiskey Jar, curated by NQ Jazz and featuring the likes of Misha Mullov Abbado Group, Iles and Green and many more.
Emerging stars Honeyfeet will lead three shows at the Royal Northern College of Music while a programme of intimate gigs are set to appear at St Ann’s Church in the centre of town. As always, Matt & Phreds will be getting in on the action too – programming a record number of shows at their Northern Quarter jazz-hub. Expect the likes of Rum Buffalo, The Retrosettes and Chube – with The Stoller Hall welcoming jazz-fusion icons Yellowjackets for a sure-to-be-special festival show. More events, performances and participating venues are still to be announced – but those eager not to miss out can bag their tickets when they go on sale at 10am on Friday 13 March 2020.
