In these trying times, it’s important to spare a thought for the homeless people of Manchester. Many have underlying medical conditions which make them especially vulnerable; and those in night shelters cannot self-isolate or practice social distancing. Thankfully, Booth Centre, a registered charity in Cheetham Hill, is still open and providing advice, take-away food and welfare packs for the homeless – and in the past weeks, they have helped an unprecedented 100 people get into single room accommodation. Despite this achievement there are, of course, many more people in need of help. Unfortunately, most of the charity events that support the Centre financially have been postponed or even cancelled, so they are now turning directly to the public for help. Your donation can help pay for extra staffing, cleaning resources and a text messaging info service. The cash can also help supply take-away meals and food deliveries to emergency shelters.
