Manchester Craft and Design Centre returns: Here’s how you can support local makers & artists

Manchester Craft and Design Centre is re-opening to the public on Fridays and Saturdays in August, bringing a socially distanced experience to this independent Northern Quarter retail outlet which opened in 1982. If you’re looking for gifts or treats for yourself, your friends or your family, then there’s no surer guarantee of a local and ethical supply chain. A one-way system and a maximum person allowance around the building allows customers to still enjoy the light and airy Victorian market building and its studios, while ensuring maximum safety.

Inside you’ll find studios from makers like Linzi Ramsden Ceramics, whose new collection entitled Origami was developed as a response to the endless repetitive folding of her babies clothes, Northern Scapes artist Jessica Owens, who gains her inspiration from a Welsh country retreat and many, many more. Outside of their August opening hours, resident makers are taking customer appointments and will continue to sell online.

The venue’s popular Oak St Café is also open for pre-orders and collection of their fresh and healthy homemade food – much of which is vegan and gluten free. With everything that’s going on, there’s never been a better time to show your support to the city’s local makers – so drop by and visit Manchester Craft and Design Centre on Fridays and Saturdays in August between 11am – 5pm.
