Since the beginning of the first lockdown, no comedy night in Manchester has been missed more than Harriet Dyer’s Barking Tales. Not just a great night of storytelling but an important community that Harriet has cultivated where folks share their mental health problems in an open and honest space. Although she has been able to continue online to some extent, there’s a new chance to get your fill of Dyer via her new painfully honest and brutally funny memoir Bipolar Comedian which she has self-published. From dying twice to wanting to be a boy, her Dad leaving her Mum for a man and once doing so many drugs she thought she was Kat Slater from Eastenders, it’s safe to say Dyer has lead an eventful life. In this blistering new biography she lays everything out in her beautiful meandering style that might sooth that itch to be back at live comedy hearing about Harriet’s latest misadventure. A must for any Manchester comedy fan.
