From the creative mind of Adrian Bradshaw, a photo exhibition titled The Door Opened: 1980’s China will feature at Manchester Central Library to coincide with the city’s Chinese New Year celebrations.

A mixture of candid and posed shots explore the simplicity of everyday life in the country that Bradshaw first arrived in as a student in 1984, before going on to spend three decades documenting its incredible transformation.

From jaw-dropping fashion extravaganzas to more sentimental family excursions, Bradshaw’s work aims to capture the fleeting day-to-day beauty and how change in the country was largely driven forward by the energy and creativity of the under 25 generation.

The exhibition is brought to Manchester Central Library by the Confucius Institute at the University of Manchester, and is free to attend. For more information, visit the library website.
