Redevelopment plans that will see Manchester’s historic Great Northern Warehouse transformed have been revealed.

Trilogy Real Estate and Peterson, the owners of the Great Northern, have unveiled new plans that aim to establish the building as a ‘cultural, business and residential destination’.

The proposals include a redesign of the public square in front of the warehouse, introducing a green oasis with spaces designed for work, rest and play, and the repurposing of the warehouse’s upper floors into 130,000 sqft of office space that respects and utilises the existing architecture.

The plans also involve the addition of new pedestrian routes through the site, improving access to the rest of the city centre, along with more spaces for community activities and greenery.

Deansgate Mews, which boasts some of the city’s most exciting food and drink operators such as Another Hand, Siam Smiles and Lion’s Den, will also undergo refurbishment.

The work will also include the removal of the unsightly 1990s ‘Leisure Box’ which currently houses the Odeon Cinema, and 750 new apartments spread across two taller buildings and a lower scale podium building with shared amenity space, outdoor terraces and access to green space.
