Vita Group have submitted plans for a new 14-storey building featuring 576 student beds and a ground-floor food hall on First Street.
House of Social hopes to provide purpose-built accommodation for university students, and a 14,000 sq ft food hall that will be open to the public.
Plans for the food hall include a central bar and five independent kitchens, which would join the likes of HOME, Bunny Jacksons and WOOD around the First Street area.
The student accommodation is ‘designed for second and third-year students who have established friendship groups’, with 24 five-bedroom and 76 six-bedroom clusters included in the proposal. Of the 576 rooms is a provision for 86 affordable rooms, along with 24 studios designed to be accessible for residents with additional needs.
Max Bielby, chief operating officer at Vita Group, said: “We’re delighted to bring forward these exciting new plans for our new student brand House of Social, adding to the First Street masterplan and complementing our neighbouring Vita Student offering.
“House of Social is the student house re-imagined, bringing students together at the most important time in their life and giving them the opportunity to make life-long friends whilst excelling in their studies.”
