Promising wild journeys, adrenaline-packed challenges, the cinematic majesty of nature and the triumphant spirit of human adventure, Banff Film Festival arrives at Stockport Plaza on Fri 13 Oct as part of an extensive UK and Ireland tour. To celebrate the occasion, we have two tickets up for grabs which grant access to the entire day’s film programme, outdoorsy prize draws and more.

Featuring two brand new collections of inspirational films produced in remote areas of the planet, this year’s catalogue is chosen from hundreds of entries to the Banff Mountain Film & Book Festival, held every November in the Rocky Mountains.

2023 programme highlights include A Baffin Vacation, in which adventurers Erik Boomer and Sarah MacNair-Landry chart a 45 l-day expedition through Canada’s Baffin Island in ‘a romantic getaway with a difference’; Bridge Boys, a captivating UK film which follows climbers Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall who, forced to find alternatives to their beloved cliffs during lockdown, resolve to scale a 2,600ft horizontal groove underneath a bridge on the M5; and Saving Glaciers, a poignant and uplifting account of the devoted locals who hope to preserve both winter and the wider world by creating a complex snow cabling system to overcome glacial retreat in the Swiss Alps.
