Running from Tue 24 – Sat 28 Sep, King Arthur imbues the timeless English tale with a wildly entertaining twist in a zany retelling of the hallowed king’s story at The Lowry.
Hailed as ‘ingenious and effortlessly hilarious’ by The Stage, Le Navet Bete’s madcap medieval romp transports audiences back in time to a Camelot on the brink of catastrophe, where the anguished titular monarch is tasked with restoring his realm to its former glory, or risk becoming a laughing stock on the ruthless plinth of history.
Just as the king seems resigned to his fate, a trio of misfit squires approach Arthur with a hare-brained plan to unite the kingdom and secure his legacy, unleashing a chain of implausible events which elevates Arthur to legendary status.
Presented in collaboration with John Nicholson, one of UK theatre’s best comedy writers and directors, La Navet Bete’s King Arthur offers a side-splitting reprieve from the post-work malaise with a hilarious remix of Arthurian myth, as audiences of all theatrical tastes are invited to take part in a new chapter of our magnificently mischievous history and become part of the legend themselves.
