‘Come From Away’ celebrates unity, hope and the triumphant human spirit at The Lowry

This Christmas, the multi-Award-winning musical Come From Away comes to The Lowry.

Running from Tue 3 Dec to Sat 5 Jan 2025, this triumphant smash-hit show recounts the soul-stirring true story of the 7,000 air passengers who were grounded in the wake of 9/11, and the kind-hearted Newfoundland community who invited them into their lives with unconditional generosity.

Set to a soaring original score, Come From Away honours the compassionate locals and an assortment of real-life characters, from the quick-thinking town mayor and the mother of an NYC firefighter to an intrepid local news reporter and the first female American Airlines captain. Bound by tragedy, the town’s residents unite in solidarity to provide a sanctuary for their new international community at a turning point in history, forging lifelong friendships and earning global adoration for their remarkable embodiment of hope, integrity and the unbowed human spirit.

Written by Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley alongside Olivier-winning writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away promises a uniquely poignant theatre experience which brings audiences to their feet in a joyous testament to our shared humanity.
