Acclaimed Norwegian electronic duo Smerz head to Manchester’s Gorilla this week.

The genre-bending project, made up of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg, draws inspiration from an array of musical styles, blending classical composition techniques, dreamy pop and experimental digital sounds.

Performing at Gorilla on Wed 22 Apr, Smerz will be bringing their 2025 record Big city life to the stage. The duo’s discography also includes the critically-lauded debut album Believer, EPs Have fun and Okey, pop fantasy project ALLINA, and choir piece Tidligere den dagen with vocal ensemble GAEA on their own label Shopping.

Following this current run of UK and European dates, Smerz will be heading to the US to support Lorde, before also opening for Robyn later on in the year and appearing at several major festivals, including Primavera, Roskilde, Way Out West and Green Man.

“On their second album, the Norwegian duo’s metropolis is a place of exhilaration and apathy, thriving on contradiction, camp spectacle and coarse truths.” – Clash Magazine
