A brand-new wine bar and kitchen is set to be the latest indie operator to take over Kampus’ garden neighbourhood.

Beeswing, a collaborative effort between wine expert Anna Tutton, founder of wine shop Vin-yard (formerly housed at Hatch), and Joe Maddock, of West Didsbury tapas bar Pinchos fame.

The two have been working on joint supper clubs for some time now, but the new Kampus spot will open up those delicious combinations to a much wider audience.

Named after the crust formed on old wines, due to its resemblance to the wing of a bee, Beeswing will serve a rotating list of delicious and interesting wines from small producers across the world. With all wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle, wine lovers will be able to try out some lesser-known pours, alongside old favourites, in a laid-back environment.

The space will also operate as a bottleshop for anyone wanting to grab a treat on their way home.

Inspired by the neighbourhood bars seen on their travels, the duo will offer light bites and sharing plates throughout the day, all with big flavour and fresh, local ingredients at their forefront.

Anna said: “We want Beeswing to be a real neighbourhood bar, a warm and inviting place where you can come and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine and an hour turns into several without you noticing. We’ll be serving simple but delicious food, all day long, with and ever changing menu using the best fresh local produce. Being alongside like-minded independent businesses in the amazing surroundings of the garden neighbourhood is what attracted us to Kampus and we can’t wait to be part of the community.”

Beeswing will open its doors in March 2022.
