The BBC has announced that its inaugural 6 music Festival will take place in Manchester. The event, which is spread over two nights, will be held in Victoria Warehouse – previously home to Manchester’s Warehouse Project. Over Friday 28 February and Saturday 1 March, the venue will host two stages of live acts as well as a silent disco DJ stage, with shows broadcast live on BBC 6 Music. The festival line-up will be revealed on the station over the course of today (Tue 21 Jan) – with the first acts confirmed as The National, Damon Albarn Haim, Metronomy, James Blake, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Beasts, Franz Ferdinand, Jimi Goodwin (ex-Doves), Luke Sital-Singh, Nick Mulvey and Drenge.
