Vancouver’s Black Mountain have set a date to plug into one of Manchester’s most muscular soundsystems following the release of their fourth album, IV. It’s now over a decade since the towering riffs and politically unsubtle lyrical disquiet filtered through a modern take on classic rock for their eponymous debut. They’re due to play at Gorilla in November, but surely Yeti would be a more apt pseudonym for the venue on this occasion, as the Canadian quintet unleash their big aural footprints, coupled endearingly paradoxically with vocalist Amber Webber’s angelic refrains. Expect effects pedals, moments of spine-tingling enlightenment and a whole lotta love.
