After a summer which has seen venues from a canal barge to a miners’ social club become movie theatres, the final Picnic Cinema of the summer take immersive filmgoing experience to new levels with a screening of The Blair Witch Project deep in this spooky Cumbrian forest. Picnic Cinema have already shown Lake District classics Withnail & I and Swallows and Amazons in their original filming locations, as part of the nationwide Scala Beyond season. As the original found-footage, hand-held horror film, The Blair Witch Project, was a box-office phenomenon on its release in 1999. The audience will rendezvous at Grizedale Forest before heading off on foot to a secret venue in the woods above Coniston. Courageous moviegoers are advised to bring their own torches, blankets and suitable clothing. Live music comes courtesy of Croatian folk artist, Katus Young.
