Manchester International Festival is back for another month of innovative stage shows and electric live music – however there’s also a selection of family friendly productions scattered through this year’s line-up that are definitely worth a look. We’ve picked out three family shows at MIF 2019 that should be on your radar…

The Allotment Nannies & Mr Bloom at Festival Square
CBeebies favourite Mr Bloom from kids’ show Mr Bloom’s Nursery arrives at MIF 2019’s Festival Square stage on Sat 6 Jul to say hello to the young people of Manchester and encourage them to go green with a selection of colourful guests and catchy songs. All ages are welcome but make sure you get down early, this one is bound to be busy! Learn more here.

YESFAM Takeover at Festival Square
Multi-story music venue Yes switches gears during MIF 2019 to offer some quality family fun to the people of Manchester. They’ll be visiting Festival Square from noon to 4pm on Sat 13 Jul for the YESFAM Takeover, a family-friendly event that’ll boast MIF19 inspired dancing, craft workshops and face painting. What more could you want from a Saturday in town?

Animals of Manchester at The Whitworth Art Gallery
A walk down Oxford Road to The Whitworth Art Gallery will bring you face to face with Animals of Manchester, a free interactive art installation that imagines a world where humans and animals live as equals. Wander around the gallery to find a university ran by dogs, an Arndale Centre for squirrels and an animal conference led by cows among other family-friendly encounters. It’s open Sat 20 – Sun 21 Jul from 10am – 5pm. Find out more here.
