Hyped as Jay-Z and Bon Iver’s favourite indie band, Polica are something special. A cross between Portishead and Sheryl Crow, they’ve got this downbeat dance thing going on – brought to life with the impassioned vocals and mystique of lead singer, Channy Casselle. Hailing from Minneapolis, this is music that has divided the critics (in the same way that London’s rising star Kindness has), with half dismissing the six-piece as dinner party music for the middle classes, the rest bewitched by their alt-pop sound.
