It’s always a pleasure when someone with the international weight of Gilles Peterson drops in to the city. The likes of Electric Chair and So Flute have welcomed him in the past, but this time it’s the turn of Fiesta Bombarda in partnership with Micron and WAH. Gilles has headed up UK labels Brownswood Recordings (home to Mala, Zahra Mcfarlane and Daymé Arocena), Talkin’ Loud and the legendary Acid Jazz. In recent years he’s assisted in producing Brazilian culture project Sonzeira (with money raised feeding back into Rio’s youth), celebrated Cuban funk, jazz, reggaeton and more with Havana Cultura and launched the online station Worldwide FM. He continues to bring pioneering new music to the airwaves with his BBC 6Music show and brings artist to the fore with the Worldwide Awards. His selection at Gorilla will be ear-opening, inspiring and most of all, danceable. Support comes from Banana Hill DJs including SNO, Micron, Off Beat and MC General Rubbish.
