Swedish band Little Dragon formed in 1996 and didn’t release their first album until a decade later – but their journey thereafter meant it was all worth the wait. Twice, from their debut album, has been featured in various TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy and 90210, and since then they have collaborated with Gorillaz and DJ Shadow, as well as on SBTRKT’s Wildfire, which dominated clubs, mixes and DJ set lists in 2011 and beyond. Where 2011’s Ritual Union was a synth-pop-flavoured record with specks of R&B beats and shimmering riffs, new release Nabuma Rubberband is a sultrier album that came out of delving through different worlds and saw inspiration from Janet Jackson slow jams. It is a collection of songs that oozes sexiness and vocalist Yukimi Nagano’s velvet and smokey voice is something to behold live.
