US lounge jazzman AJ Croce will perform in Manchester as part of his September UK tour. As the son of singer-songwriters Jim and Ingrid, AJ’s path has inevitably been a musical one, ever since touring at the age of 18 as BB King’s support act and signing his first recording contract the following year. He’ll play at Band on the Wall on the eve of his 45th birthday, recalling a back catalogue spanning more than 20 years since his eponymous debut in 1993. His sophomore album, the mid-era Dylan tones of That’s Me In The Bar, was re-released last year via Compass Records, refreshing some of his many fine moments in music.

Tue 27 Sep, Band on the Wall, 25 Swan Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 5JZ. Tel: 0161 834 1786, 7.30pm, £14 adv, www.bandonthewall.org
