Manchester’s Easy Kill return with an intimate show at the Deaf Institute this April in the run-up to releasing their second album, Slow Release. Their debut, Melanscholar (Fierce Panda, 2017), is a record filled with intricately crafted, melancholic songs of densely layered guitars, slowly unravelling under frontman Theo Tobias’ unmistakable vocals and poignant, introspective lyrics — vulnerable, occasionally bold, always captivating. The band are currently finishing Slow Release at Salford’s Blueprint Studios; Tobias says of the new album: “The songs are all snapshots; those moments of calm after a storm, and so capturing it live seemed essential to encourage the most honest and organic performance of them.” Below you can watch a live video of For You, the record’s lead single, recorded at Blueprint. The beautiful track has a reflective and explorative quality, its interlocked guitar and piano melodies expanding into a pop-charged chorus. Tickets are available now for the Deaf Institute show, where the band will premiere more songs from Slow Release.
