Invisible Cities is a social enterprise, training people affected by homelessness to become walking tour guides of their own city and offer these alternative tours to tourists and locals. Their high quality training empowers our guides to create, craft and deliver tours that are their own, highlighting monuments, people and places they have chosen themselves. It’s a simple and effective concept: the guides  showcase some of the city’s historical landmarks and explore the social projects that make the city what it is.

In short, the guides live and breathe the city, and offer their own personal insight into the past, present and future.

Manchester is lucky enough to be one of the cities chosen for this project. You might choose to go ‘off the cobbles’ with Danny: His tour is a thoughtful and poetic exploration that will transport you to the flip side of Manchester, beyond the mere surface of its tourist attractions and into the depths of his own experience of homelessness. Or explore powerful women of Manchester with Laura. As a transgender woman, Laura explores the history of inspirational Mancunian women who have influenced her journey of transition. Her exuberant character and cheerful attitude makes for a unique and exciting guided tour of Manchester’s city centre. Bookings are open now.
