It’s not uncommon to hear an individual say a record has touched them in an ethereal way, thus rendering this classification almost disposable. However, Tycho’s productions effortlessly transports the listener to a transcendental dimension through synths and sampled live instrumentation, and it’s this electro-organic approach that sees him scooped into the same class as Boards of Canada and Bibio. Scott Hansen, aka Tycho, is a graphic artist whose tracks reflect his designs: gorgeous, modest and tranquil. His second release on Ghostly International, this summer he’s supporting his latest album Awake; a record riddled with intimacy and melancholic futuristic tones that could perfectly soundtrack the sunset on a hazy beach. As such, his live shows have proved and can be expected to spark goose bumps and a gradually brimming sense of nostalgia.
