Has it really been 10 years? Though the building dates back to 1862, Band On The Wall are preparing to celebrate 10 years since they re-opened their doors following major refurbishments. To celebrate, the cherished Swan Street venue are throwing an all-day party, hosting 10 acts, with tickets on sale for just £10. Ex-Slits singer Hollie Cook demonstrating her vocal prowess, funkadelic collective Habibi Funk, experimental jazz and indie quartet Flamingods, jazztronica duo Blue Lab Beats and soulful homegrown talent Katbrownsugar. Attendees can also look forward to the return of local favourites, the Me Gusta DJs, psych rock quintet Mama Racho, producer and singer Evabee, the Neo-soul grooves of Lovescene, along with techno and house DJ Nick Sinna. Looking to the future of the venue, thanks to £1.4m from the National Lottery, the building will soon see capacity increased from 340 to 520, with an added 80-capacity venue for live music and film screenings, along with new classroom and rehearsal spaces. Tickets for the 10th birthday bash are now on sale.
