The fine folks at HOME recently announced the programme for the PUSH Festival, a two-week long arts showcase taking place in January. It will feature five specially-commissioned performances, and also screenings and exhibitions. The launch party will be a sampler of the festival to come, with dance and spoken word performances, followed by a DJ set. Among the new commissions is Cuts of the Cloth, which centres on a Muslim woman who has been archived in a museum in the not-too-distant future, to speak to visitors about her relationship with the veil. Dance Away the Spiders, is a physical piece exploring trauma and resistance, and Unpacking is an exhibition of oil paintings which aim to shed light on the emotional complexities of migration. There will also be workshops and informal seminars for creative professionals, including: a session with documentary filmmaker Aaron Dunleavy; a talk by photographer Paul Herrmann; and a talk from actor/director Cheryl Martin.
