Following a sold out appearance last year, three-time Grammy Award-nominee Donny McCaslin returns to Band on the Wall this summer supporting a brand new album. McCaslin has found recent fame as a key ingredient on David Bowie’s final opus Blackstar, to which he lent tenor and soprano saxophone, along with his band. Fast forward nearly three years, and McCaslin returns with latest album Blow under his belt, a new definitive statement that fully realizes Bowie’s influence and McCaslin’s evolved artistic direction. Speaking on the new work after his work with Bowie, McCaslin commented: “Before working with him, things like this didn’t seem possible to me”. The new record has quickly been dubbed some of his most daring work to date over a three-decade career. Support for his appearance at Band On The Wall comes form Mancunian jazz-rock quintet Artephis.
