Dance floor mainstays seem to work on rotation and few seem to stick like cooked spaghetti thrown at the kitchen wall; not least tracks that share a common maker. A group we can call a national treasure falls under this narrow bracket and has been responsible for numbers such as Rez, Cowgirl and a track with equally head-wrecking properties as the film it soundtracks, Born Slippy. Underworld’s accepted debut (though technically third LP), dubnobasswithmyheadman, is arguably their most significant contribution to electronic music; a perfect mix of techno, acid house and trance and 20 years since its release, they will be performing this seminal record live. After dubnobasswithmyheadman’s re-release earlier this year, their performance at Royal Festival Hall proved a contender for dangerously high Glasto ticket-buying frustrations; this Friday at 9am might be your most important appointment this week.
