What started as a quirky boutique concept is now a super cool, independent cocktail bar called Cherry Jam – which opened its doors to the public this week. Situated on Mealhouse Brow in Stockport, it’s the passion project of former World Bartending Champion, Neil Garner, who is supported by a team of highly trained cocktail wizards.

Throughout lockdown, this same team provided home cocktail kits via a delivery service with plans to open a small bar when restrictions lifted. However when the space next door to their original venue became available, Garner and his team decided to extend their plans – ultimately creating a 1200 square foot bar that’s packed with over-the-top, eye-catching decor. Cut to late May and Cherry Jam is officially open, with Bar Cherry welcoming walk in guests and The Jam available for private hire – with both housed in the same venue.

From Thursday to Sunday, Cherry Jam serves an extensive range of cocktails, such as The 192 which combines four rums, tropical flavours and is set ablaze; Blossoms – named after the Stockport’s famed indie band – comprises of local Tarsier Gin, lychee liquor, citrus and a cherry blossom garnish while The Jam’s signature drink, Town Called Malice, mixes gold rum, fresh raspberries and raspberry liquor – topped off with a splash of fizz. Frozen margaritas, summer punches, craft beers and wines are also available – and this is just a small taste of what the bar has to offer.
