Wed 19 Feb | DJ Rashad (pictured) | Soup Kitchen
Chicago footwork/juke lynchpin Rashad touches down in Soup Kitchen’s basement to join residents from Project 13 and Chow Down. His work with UK-based label Hyperdub have helped to elevate Rashad above a number of his peers and you should expect nothing less than a high-octane, high-energy assault – something the soundsystem at Soup Kitchen should be perfect for. Tickets are on their final release, so act quickly.

Fri 21 Feb | Gappy Ranks | Band On The Wall
Flying the flag for UK reggae, Gappy Ranks has had a pretty incredible last few years. Backed by the Soul Rebel Band, he’ll be performing tracks from last year’s album Shining Hope, hopefully alongside some throwback Swing Ting favourites such as Stinkin’ Rich. Hotmilk/Swing Ting resident Joey B will be warming the crowd up in preparation.

Fri 21 Feb | Ron Morelli | Soup Kitchen
Back to Soup Kitchen, this time to to witness the man in charge of one of the world’s hottest labels, L.I.E.S Records. With a well-earned reputation as a DJ on top of his A&R abilities, this is another guaranteed roadblock event for the meandyou. boys. Speaking of which, with their NTS Radio show going from strength to strength, they have one of the strongest resident teams Manchester has to offer. I’m very surprised there are still tickets left for this, so I’d get a move on if I were you.

Sat 22 Feb | Hoya:Hoya’s 6th Birthday | The Roadhouse
Six years of pushing forward Manchester’s club scene, the often-imitated clubnight celebrates its birthday with a formal party. Of sorts. It’ll still be the same sweaty basement, the same incredible music, just dressed up a little. The Hoya residents have had arguably their strongest year yet and the next year promises even more. Hoya’s Head Boy, Illum Sphere, has just released his debut album Ghosts of Them and Now on Ninja Tune, which is a good reason to get dolled up.
