Jim Ross at Comedy Store Monday | Comedy Store | Mon 26 Aug | 8pm | £25
Anyone who grew up watching the macho posturing and almost definitely real bouts of the WWF (we refuse to call it WWE), you will be familiar with the voice of Jim Ross. The wrestling commentator Ross is coming to the Comedy Store to talk through his career and the ridiculousness that is professional wrestling. A great storyteller with a penchant for hyperbole, let JR lead you down memory lane to the Smackdown Hotel. See our full preview here.

JoJo Smith (pictured) | Jabez Clegg | Tue 27 Aug | 7.30pm | £5/3
There are many comedians out there that might claim Bill Hicks was a big influence on them, but none more than Jojo Smith, since it was a chance interview with Hicks whilst working as a journalist that lead her to take the plunge into standup. Having toured all over the world and gained notoriety in Romania, as well as ‘feminist icon’ status in South Africa, Smith has established herself as one of the best female comedians in Britain, and one of the raunchiest. Her shows are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Big Value Thursdays | Frog & Bucket | Thu 29 Aug | 7pm | £5
Oldham Street’s Frog & Bucket continues its summer sale with cut price comedy on a Thursday, XS Malarkey stalwart Toby Hadoke MCs the event which features headliner John Ryan, and support from Helen Heeler and Seymour Mace. The show will also see support from rising star Liam Pickford, well worth catching before he breaks big.

Let’s See What Happens | Lass O’Gowrie | Sat 31 Aug | 8pm | £3
Manchester-based improv troupe Comedy Sportz bring their longform monthly improvisation show to the Lass for your amusement. Starting with one local comedian and adding suggestions from the crowd, the show is formed by your input – be that for good or ill – and the comedians on show are always willing give anything a go and will ring jokes out of the sublime and the ridiculous. A great, cheap, hilarious night at the Lass.
