Found Footage Festival | The Patron | Tue 28 Aug | 7.30pm | £10
We first reported on the Found Footage Festival coming to town in the very early days of Manchester Wire way back in 2012 for their first ever UK tour. Now on their sixth jaunt to the UK they bring with them a brand new show entitled ‘After Dark’ which promises a collection of their ‘sexiest’ and ‘grossest’ VHS finds yet. Read our full preview here.

Neal Portenza | The Old Monkey | Wed 29 Aug | 7.30pm | £5
We’d urge you to see Neal Portenza’s unique brand of brilliantly intelligent and wonderfully stupid clowning any time he was in town, but as this may well be his last ever show on these shores, we really must insist you go. Multi-award-winning stand up and fully qualified engineer, Portenza really is one of the best at what he does, but then he’s the only one doing it. Go see him before he moves back to Australia and the UK gets even more miserable.

Group Therapy’s 6th Birthday | Gorilla | Sat 1 Sep | 7pm | £6/12
Manchester’s finest weekend comedy night celebrates turning six years old with a stellar line up and a great offer. At time of writing there were still some early bird £6 tickets for the birthday show this Saturday but even £12 is a snip to see the best in alternative comedy that Group Therapy have provided every month for the last six years. There’s still a few names to be dropped but so far the line up includes sketch duo The Delightful Sausage, Patrick Turpin and Tom Wrigglesworth as MC.
