Whaley Bridge in the High Peak district hosts its 15th annual Water Weekend over the next three days, promising waterway-related fun for all. Located around the town’s Peak Forest Canal, the weekend features live music on its Canal Basin Stage from the likes of electronic DJs The Audiosphere Project (Fri) and guitarist George Borowski (Sat), plus a Friday evening acoustic showcase at the nearby Mechanics Institute. Other over the weekend highlights include performances from the Powderkegs Border Morris Dancers (Sat, 12pm onwards), plus free boat trips (Sat & Sun) and canoe experiences (Sat), and a bird of prey falconry show during Sunday. All Whaley Water Weekend events are free to attend. Whaley Bridge is around 40 minutes from Piccadilly by train (£7.70 off peak day return).
