You may have to leave your shoes at the door but The Lowry’s immersive new sensory exhibition requires you to enter equipped with a healthy dose of imagination and an open mind in order to fully experience everything it has to offer.  This aptly titled Limited Celestial Space is the brainchild of artists Igor and Moreno, the multi-disciplinary duo who have take up residency at the popular Salford arts and performance space throughout October as part of the venue’s EDIT series which gives artists and performers the chance to develop and showcase new work. Over on the The Lowry’s theatre stage you’ll find their two dance pieces Beat and Andante – however it’s their cosy first floor gallery that we’re focusing on today, with Igor and Moreno’s dream-like exhibition taking its cues from the latter performance in regards to its limitless, ethereal feel. Shoes removed, attendees are invited to explore two spaces: the first a small, white room, filled with theatrical stage smoke made of sugar and water and drenched in atmospheric blue light. As visitors tentatively walk around this hazy space, images begin to reveal themselves from the depths of the mist; words seem to appear on the gallery’s pale walls and imaginations are given free reign to run wild in the boundless opportunity presented by the opaque. The exhibition’s second room opens things up even further, leaving its full potential in the hands of the visitor, their imagination and unlimited curiosity. Igor and Moreno’s Limited Celestial Space is free to attend and available to visit at The Lowry’s upstairs gallery until Sun 27 Oct.
