Beating other praised festivals such as Kendal Calling and End of the Road, Festival No. 6 has just been named Best Festival at the NME Awards 2018. It’s hardly surprising, after announcing another strong line up as Franz Ferdinand and Friendly Fires are set to join post-punk legends The The as headliners over the weekend of 6 – 9 Sep. Intimacy is key, and the festival organisers limit capacity to maintain its unique, magical aura that punters are so drawn to. Careful curation is at play and the results yield an unparalleled and diverse programme that celebrates the old and new in music, arts, culture and food. The Charlatans, Jessie Ware, Everything Everything and Django Django are amongst the unmissable list of artists playing, and Erol Alkan and Roy Davis Jr are just some of the DJs enlisted to see your night through. A new addition includes Andrew Weatherall’s very own Psychedelic Faber Social stage where authors and artists are invited to celebrate psychedelia, while Irvine Welsh returns for a conversation with Edith Bowman, and Liverpool band Stealing Sheep lead a Suffragette Procession to mark its centenary. Held in the wonderfully bizarre Italian architecture of Portmeirion village that’s nestled in the North Wales forest and overlooking the estuarial waters of the Irish Sea, this festival is difficult to forget once you’ve had a taste – it’s one habit you’ll never want to kick. See the line up here and book your tickets before they sell out. For something closer to home, check our our Parklife Festival 2018 preview here.
